Dog Friendly Cottage

We know that leaving a four-legged family member behind when you go on holiday is never an easy decision. That is exactly why we welcome dogs at Stoney Nook. Located in the quiet rural farming hamlet of Trenance, near St Issey, our self-catering holiday house offers a wonderful base for you and your dog to explore the rugged coastlines and green countryside of North Cornwall. Being just a few miles from Padstow, you get the best of both worlds: easy access to popular coastal spots, and a peaceful retreat away from the busy crowds to return to at the end of the day.

Cornwall is a fantastic destination for dogs, with miles of coastal paths, wide sandy beaches, and woodland trails just waiting to be sniffed. You do not even have to get in the car to start exploring. Just a couple of hundred yards from our front door, you can join the Saints Way trail for a scenic countryside walk that stretches across the landscape. If you prefer a flatter, more leisurely route, the famous Camel Trail is only a couple of miles away, offering a safe, traffic-free path alongside the beautiful Camel Estuary. When it is time for a splash in the sea or a run on the sand, Trevone Beach is our nearest coastal spot, just a quick twelve-minute drive from the house. Many of the spectacular beaches around the Padstow area are dog-friendly year-round or offer generous seasonal access. After a morning of rock pooling and wave jumping, there are plenty of welcoming local spots in the area where your dog can rest under the table while you enjoy some well-earned Cornish food and drink.

Returning to Stoney Nook after a busy day of exploring is ideal for dogs. Our large garden surrounds the property, featuring lots of little corners and two generous lawns that are perfect for outdoor playtime. We do like to let our guests know that the garden boundary is not entirely secure for determined wanderers, so it is best to keep a watchful eye on your dog while they are outside enjoying the fresh air. We also have plenty of practical space for sorting yourselves out after muddy countryside walks or sandy beach adventures. You will find a large, sturdy shed outside which is incredibly handy for storing wetsuits and beach equipment, keeping the main house free of sand. Inside, the utility room provides extra space to sort out wet towels. In the evenings, the large living room is the perfect place to unwind. With unlimited logs supplied for the traditional Cornish log burner, your dog will undoubtedly find a cosy spot on the floor to sleep off the day’s excitement while you relax with a film on Sky or Netflix.

A Few Simple House Rules

To ensure Stoney Nook remains fresh, clean, and comfortable for all our guests, we do have a few simple guidelines for dog owners. We happily welcome up to two small, or 1 large, well-behaved dogs by prior arrangement, though we kindly ask that you do not bring puppies. We require that your dogs stay downstairs during your visit and keep their paws off the furniture. Additionally, please do not leave your dog unattended in the house at any time. We love seeing our guests enjoy their holidays with their dogs by their side. If you are planning your next Cornish getaway and want a relaxing, rural base that welcomes your pets, we would love to host you.
